callanswering.co.nz
A small business at night in heavy rain, dark except for one warm lamp burning in the window and its light spilling across the wet footpath.

Your phone, answeredafter hours

Every call taken, sorted and texted to you before morning. From NZ$10 a month plus the calls you use.

A weekday, covered

Answered for you You answer

Fifteen of the twenty four hours in a weekday sit outside the times you keep. Add the weekend and most of your week is dark. That is where the after hours work comes from, and it is the work that pays best.

Answered at eleven. On your desk by seven.

It plugs into the things you already use every day. A call answered at night is worth nothing if nobody can act on it in the morning, so the job goes where you will find it.

What happens when the phone goes at 7pm

One call, start to finish. The times are an example evening, not a promise about any particular call.

  1. 017:12 pm

    It picks up

Second ring, in your business name, in a New Zealand voice. No hold music and no queue, because there is no queue.

  2. 027:12 pm

    It sorts urgent from not

Water through a ceiling is not a quote for next month. It asks enough to tell the difference, in the words you would use.

  3. 037:13 pm

    Urgent rings your mobile

You write the rule. Those calls reach you there and then. Everything else waits until morning, so your evening stays yours.

  4. 047:14 pm

The job is booked and texted to you

Straight into the real diary, in a slot that is genuinely free. Name, number, address and what they want, on your phone before they hang up.

Urgent. Ringing your mobile now.

You decide when it takes over

This is the part most services do not give you. Your hours are yours. Set the cutoff on the quarter hour, set a different one for Friday, and the phone changes hands at exactly that minute.

Nothing rings twice. Inside your hours the call comes to you as it always has. Outside them, it never reaches your pocket unless you said it should.

A different clock for each day

Open at seven on a Tuesday and knock off at two on a Friday. Each day gets its own start and finish.

Public holidays follow the New Zealand calendar

Waitangi Day, Matariki, the regional anniversary for your area. Set the Christmas closedown once and forget it until January.

Lunch, site visits and the hour you are under a house

Hand the phone over for an hour and take it back after. It does not need a reason and there is nothing to cancel.

Overflow inside your own hours

If your line is busy or nobody gets there in five rings, it answers rather than letting it go to voicemail. Your day, backed up.

One number, no new number

Keep the number on your van. Calls divert out of hours and come back to you in the morning, and the caller never knows the difference.

Want the whole week handed over instead? That is a different job and it has its own page.

What the dark hours cost

Night does not carry a surcharge

Leave it on for evenings, weekends and public holidays. The clock does not make the call dearer.

Start small on pay as you go, or choose the fixed monthly number when the phone is steady.

Pay as you go

NZ$10 a month

Keeps your New Zealand number live, then calls are NZ$1 a minute. Your first NZ$10 of credit is free.

The steady-phone plan

NZ$129 a month

Your first three months, then NZ$199. Includes 200 minutes, 50 texts and three calls at once.

No setup fee

We build and train the answering before any real caller hears it.

No lock in

Take the divert off when you want. Your recordings and transcripts remain yours.

Nothing extra for Saturday night

After hours is the reason this exists, not an add-on hidden in the bill.

MESSAGES
Booked

Tomorrow, 7:30 am. Already in your diary. Nothing to re-key.

What you wake up to

Not a red voicemail badge and eleven minutes of listening back. A list, in order, with the urgent ones already handled.

A text at the time of every call

Sent while the caller is still talking, so it is on your phone before they hang up.

The night in one list

Every call from the evening in order, who rang, what they wanted, and what was promised to them.

A recording and a written transcript

On the record, word for word, if a caller later remembers it differently.

Numbers kept in one place

When the same person rings back on Thursday it already knows their name, their address and what happened last time. Nobody has to look it up.

Where the details land

Google Calendar

Bookings go into the real diary, in a slot that is genuinely free. Nothing to re-key.

HubSpot and GoHighLevel

New enquiries land in your CRM with the caller's number already attached.

Xero

Account questions answered from your own ledger, without anyone looking it up.

Slack and Microsoft Teams

Every call posted into the channel your team already watches.

Trello

A card per job, on the board your crew works off in the morning.

Zapier, webhooks and the REST API

Send a call anywhere else you run, or build against it yourself.

And more. Running something else? Tell us what you use and we will quote the integration work.

Several people sharing the nights? The on-call roster add-on chases whoever is on until somebody accepts. Ask us to configure the roster, escalation order and fallback for your team. How on-call works.

Where your calls go, and what we do not do

New Zealand numbers, New Zealand data centres

+64 numbers are answered here and the recordings and transcripts stay here. +61 numbers are answered in Australia. Nothing about your callers goes to a night shift in another time zone.

Your callers' details are not sold

They are held so you can ring people back. They are not sold, and they are not passed outside this service. Read the privacy page.

It says what it is

Ask it and it tells you it is an assistant. It never claims to be you, and it never claims to be a member of your staff.

What it will never do

Diagnose a fault. Give clinical or legal advice. Read a card number over the phone. Quote a job it has not seen. When something is outside its brief it says so and gets it to you.

After hours answering, answered

What is an after hours answering service?

It is a service that picks up your business phone at the times you are not working, takes the caller's details, decides whether the call is urgent and passes it on. Yours runs from the hours you set, so it starts the minute you knock off and stops when you open.

Who answers my calls at night?

An answering agent trained on your business, running on New Zealand infrastructure. It speaks in a New Zealand voice, uses your business name, and says it is an assistant if a caller asks. It is not a person sitting in a call centre and we do not pretend otherwise.

Can urgent calls still reach me at 2am?

Yes, and only the ones you want. You write the rule. A burst pipe rings your mobile straight away. A price enquiry is taken down and waits for the morning. If nothing meets your rule, your phone stays quiet all night.

Is this better than voicemail?

Most people do not leave a voicemail after hours. They ring the next name on the list. An answered call gets a name, a number, an address and a booking, so the job stays with you instead of going to whoever picked up second.

Do I need a new phone number?

No. Keep the number on your van, your website and your 0800 line. You divert it after hours and take the divert off in the morning, or leave it on a schedule so it happens by itself.

How quickly do I get the message?

The text goes out during the call, not after it. Booked jobs appear in the diary the same minute. Nothing waits for a shift to end, because there is no shift.

Where is the call actually handled?

New Zealand numbers are answered on New Zealand infrastructure and the recordings and transcripts stay here. Australian numbers are handled in Australia. Nothing about your callers moves offshore.

More of these on the questions page.

Tell us the hours you want covered

Two things get you going: your number and the times you want handed over. We will ring you back to check the detail and write the rules with you.

Your account opens as soon as you are ready. Your agent is deployed and trained within 24 hours, so most people are answered on their own number the next day.

We use what you send here to answer your enquiry and nothing else. What we do with your details.

The rest of it

Stop losing the seven o'clock call

Keep your number. Set your hours. Answered on your own line the next day.
